Chunibyou demo koi ga shitai is originally a light novel series adapted into an anime.
When you translate the title directly from Japanese, it means
"I still want to love even though I'm Chu 2 byou."
Even though it is a light novel, the anime company added anime original stories. The light novel series is extremely short, ending with 2 books. So basically you can call this an anime original.
Chunibyou 中二病
First of all let me describe what chunibyou is for people who don't know. Chu 2 byou is basically a mental condition and what they call a sickness. They say with all the puberty and knowledge that gets through you, you start acting very strange, dressing up in a vampire costume, wearing colored contact lens or wearing an eye patch like the main heroine or even believing in yourself that you have special powers and save the world.
You can think of this is different ways, in a positive way, you become creative and imaginative. In a negative way, you're fucking mentally retarded. The reason it is not as serious as a mental disease is because it kind of a different process of puberty. I have never seen a chu 2 byou myself but people say they tend to get out of chu 2 byou when you get older.
The reason it is called Chu ni(2) byou is because chu 2 is second year of middle school and that is the typical age where kids starting to get into it. Of course, byou is sickness in Japanese.
The characters in animes that are chu ni byou in other animes are.
Kuroneko from Oreimo. That dress, those contacts.
Basic Plot
So, the main character, Yuuta Togashi used to be Chu Ni byou in his middle school years. He is starting on his high school life. He is so embarrased from those years he even moved to a high school far away from his old middle school so no one would reconize him.
So was SUPPOSED TO have an nice high school life until he meets Rika Takanashi, Chu Ni byou girl.
My Thoughts on the Anime Warning light spoilers.
Chu Ni byou has been quite a topic now for the otaku industry.
I first thought it was going to be like Harem and triangle love and ecchi shit but it just happened to a very cute and creative Boy-meet-girl kinda situation.
As you go through the anime amazing facts about Rikka and Yuuta are revealed that I'm not gonna tell.
Lots of parts made me go awww and feel very satisfied.
The original light novel really used this Chu Ni byou topic to their advantage and managed to successfully produce a funny, romantic and amazing series which turned into an anime.
Another thing I loved was the fact that even though there were cute heriones that the company could've easily made a harem situation, they didn't and sticked to the main herione. like her Kumin Tsuyuri

In the first part of the anime, it was a total comedy to give laughter to the audience and kind of relax the audience.
In later parts, the anime becomes more serious which reveals Rikkas past and reason for her Chu Ni Byou.

They say that some of the viewers who were actually Chu Ni Byou couldn't manage watching the anime because they were so embarrased and reminded of their past.

Also the Blu Ray copies sold very well with 17,520 copies for the 1st one.
The amazing work go them to make the second season as well as the gekijouban(the movie version).
The movie version is gonna be the first season with extra story. And it is gonna be in theaters in Japan in September 14th 2013. Very soon.

It is gonna take place in Spring to summer. Kumin sempai is getting ready for University.
New character is gonna be revealed,
It is gonna keep the idea of Love comedy setting between Yuuta and Rikka
Just like season one, Since its mainly focused on Yuuta and Rikka other characters are not gonna have big parts.
The openings and Endings songs are planned to be sung by the same people,(the heroines in the anime.)

I think this was a pretty good anime that definitely stood out for me.
One of the better animes I think I've seen this year. I'm really excited for the second season and hope they do a great job just like first one.
